Spirit, who will play home games at Lord’s, has appointed Josh Inglis, Perth Scorchers, and Wicketkeeper-batsman from Western Australia as substitutes.
Warne said the following on the Fox Cricket podcast: “Unfortunately, Glenn Maxwell withdrew from the Hundred”. “We were very excited to have accepted him into the draft. We know that he is the winner of the match and we were delighted to see him.”
“Unfortunately he’s pulled out of that and we’ve now replaced him with Josh Inglis from Western Australia, so we are lucky to have him.”
Inglis is again on the field after being unexpectedly overlooked on Australia’s limited tours, despite several impressive seasons at Big Bash and Marsh Cup.
John Inglis is already in the UK, playing for Leicestershire in the Vitality Blast, and is playing in a great season scoring 269 averaging 44.83 and 174.67, including 100 undefeated against Northamptonshire.
Other Australian players, including Aaron Finch and Adam Zampa, are expected to leave a few weeks before the tournament on July 21. Several foreign Blast players are expected to remain replacements for Glenn Phillips. It is understood that they were lined up for the contract. Devon Conway and Lockie Ferguson have already confirmed it.
The upcoming rounds of Blast games are the last chance for unsigned players to bet on the Draft Wildcard of the Hundred on July 2. Each team will sign a £24,000 contract with Northern Superchargers with a local player team first.
With regard to women’s competition, teams must complete drafting by June 29, although replacements can be appointed right before the tournament starts.
