About Legends League Cricket
The Legends League Cricket (LLC) T20 tournament, a rare opportunity to witness retired international cricketing legends back in action on the field, commenced in 2022 and remarkably achieved two successful seasons in its inaugural year, prompting the addition of more players and teams to the competition.
Founded by Raman Raheja and Vivek Khushalani, the Legends League Cricket is owned by Absolute Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. In November 2021, Ravi Shastri was appointed Commissioner of the League, a position he assumed immediately after retiring as Head Coach of the Indian National Cricket team. Alongside Shastri on the Apex Council is renowned Pakistani cricketer, Wasim Akram, adding further star power and expertise to the league’s management.
Celebrated former captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team, Jhulan Goswami, serves as the Women’s Empowerment Ambassador for the league, bringing her invaluable experience and passion for empowering women in sports. Further elevating the league’s stature, iconic Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan takes on the role of Brand Ambassador, lending his charm and popularity to the tournament.
With such distinguished personalities at the helm and an expanding pool of legendary cricketers participating, the Legends League Cricket T20 tournament has captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts worldwide. Structure of Legends League Cricket
A total of 12 league matches will be played in a double round robin format with each team playing against every other team twice. Of the four teams, the top three teams will qualify for the playoffs. Thereafter the knock-out games further lead to the ultimate champion of the league.
History of Legends League Cricket
In January 2022, the first season of LLC Masters international format took place at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. The tournament featured three teams: India Maharajas, Asia Lions, and World Giants. Following the success of the international format, the first season of the LLCT20 franchise format was held in India in September 2022. This cricket tournament featured four privately owned teams, spread across six major cities. The ownership details of these teams were not specified in the information. The LLCT20 franchise format’s second edition was dedicated to India’s 75th Independence celebrations, known as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, and was held in India between September and October 2022.
In March 2023, the second season of LLC Masters was hosted in Doha, Qatar. This season boasted an impressive lineup of retired cricket legends, including players like Gautam Gambhir, Shahid Afridi, Aaron Finch, Hashim Amla, Chris Gayle, and many others.
To ensure a competitive environment for the recently retired cricketers, Legends League Cricket appointed Andrew Leipus as the Director of Sports Science. His role was instrumental in working on the fitness and physical performance of the cricketers.
Although the tournament is still in its early stages, it has shown promising growth, and there are expectations that it will become a regular fixture on the annual cricketing calendar.

World Giants
World Giants Team LLC 2023 Squad, Players list, Captain – The World Giants team is a Twenty20 franchise cricket team playing in the Legends League Cricket (LLC T20) 2023. The team will be captained by Aaron Finch and coached by Lalchand Rajput. They won the first edition of the tournament by defeating Asia Lions in the finals by 25 runs.
Asia Lions
The Asia Lions team is a Twenty20 franchise cricket team that plays in the Legends League Cricket (LLC T20). The team will be captained by Dav Whatmore and coached by Shahid Afridi. Asia Lions reached the finals in the first season but finished as the runner up of the competition. However, they made a comeback and won the latest edition of the competition and beat World Giants in the finals by 7 wickets to win the trophy.
India Capitals
One of the four teams is the India Capitals. On paper, this team looks like the strongest of all. The GMR group owns this team in the LLC. Notably, the same group also owned the IPL franchise, the Delhi Capitals. That was one of the reasons that a similar name was decided for the LLC team as well. The group owner has already had some experience in franchise cricket. India Capitals were fantastic in the second season of the tournament where they lifted the trophy.
