About the 6ixty
What set this tournament apart was its inclusive nature, featuring both a men’s and women’s edition simultaneously. The teams and player rosters mostly mirrored those seen in the CPL and Women’s CPL, adding to the excitement and overall competitiveness. To add a twist to the conventional T10 cricket format, numerous modifications were introduced in this captivating competition.

Structure of the 6ixty
The tournament adopts a traditional league stage and knockout stage format, wherein each team participates in three matches during the league stage, totalling nine matches for all teams combined. The top four teams from the league stage proceed to the playoffs, where two semi-finals are held, culminating in an intense final between the semi-final winners.
While the tournament follows the T10 format that has been familiar for some time, it ventures into the realm of the unconventional. Several modifications have been introduced to enhance the excitement of the game. Organisers have coined it as “60-ball cricket,” where each team is granted 10 overs (equivalent to 60 legal deliveries) to bat, and each bowler is allowed a maximum of two overs. The matches are designed to last approximately 90 minutes, adding to the fast-paced nature of the format.
Some of the innovative rules include a change in the number of wickets required for teams to be all out, reducing it to six wickets instead of the standard 10 in other formats. Moreover, the first five overs of the match are bowled from one end of the pitch, with the following five overs bowled from the opposite side, diverging from the alternating sides seen in other formats.
To ensure the pace of the game, fielding teams must bowl their 10 overs within 45 minutes; otherwise, they face a penalty of losing one fielder during the final over. Additionally, the batting team has the chance to “unlock” a third powerplay over by hitting two sixes in the first two powerplay overs, adding strategic depth to the game.
One of the most intriguing features is the “Mystery Free Hit,” where fans are involved in decision-making. They get to determine when the delivery is played by the batsman, who, during this particular delivery, is virtually immune to getting dismissed in any manner, sparking anticipation and excitement among spectators.
History of the 6ixty
Drawing on the success of various T10 competitions previously organised in the West Indies, Cricket West Indies took the initiative to introduce a fresh tournament in 2022 known as the “6ixty.” Commencing its debut season on August 25, 2022, the exhilarating event unfolded over four action-packed days and concluded on August 29. To add prestige to the occasion, the legendary West Indian cricketer, Chris Gayle, served as the brand ambassador for the inaugural 6ixty tournament while also playing for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The illustrious trophy awarded at the tournament dubbed the “Universe Boss Trophy,” paid homage to Chris Gayle’s nickname, the “Universe Boss.”
The organisers of the 6ixty tournament envision it as an annual standalone event, distinct from the Caribbean Premier League, with plans to hold multiple editions each year. However, they face challenges due to the crowded cricket calendar, as other tournaments and series vie for attention and scheduling.
The 6ixty Winner List
The 2022 edition of the 6ixty marked its debut season, and the results for the tournament were as follows:
Season | Winner | Runner Up |

Led by the dynamic Rovman Powell, the team showcased a formidable lineup with talents like Shamarh Brooks, Migael Pretorius, Imad Wasim, and Kennar Lewis. Trinbago Knight Riders
The team was under the capable leadership of Kieron Pollard. Alongside him, the squad showcased the talents of Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, and Akeal Hosein. Despite their strong presence, they faced challenges on the scoreboard, scoring the least runs with a total of 93 in the tournament.

Alongside him, the roster included talented players like Roston Chase, Mark Deyal, and Jeavor Royal, who contributed to the team’s efforts. Despite their dedication, they were unable to secure higher standings, concluding the competition at the penultimate position of the table.
