Glenn Phillips Will Replace Joe Buttler in The IPL 2021 Stage

The opener of Rajasthan Royals Jos Buttler won’t participate in the second stage of the IPL 2021. He prepares for the birth of the second child with his partner Louise during that time. Glenn Phillips from New Zealand is going to replace Buttler for the rest of the season.

Joe Buttler will be replaced by Glenn Phillips during the IPL 2021.

The tournament will resume on 19 September in the UAE after its suspension in May. Royals won three matches and lost four in the first half of the IPL 2021 season. The loss of a third player this season could be a significant occasion for the entire league.

The loss of Jos Buttler was as notable for the IPL as the drop out of Jofra Archer. The English speedster suffered an injury to his elbow and finger. He later underwent surgery. However, the elbow injury has worsened again and Archer is not able to play for the next year, missing the Ashes and the T20 World Cup.

Another star player will miss the second half of the Indian Premier League season due to mental problems. The all-rounder Ben Stokes refused to take part in the ongoing Test series against India to focus on his mental health. Stokes suffered a finger injury during his only match in IPL 2021 and had to travel back home.

The right-hander Joe Buttler scored 254 runs in 7 games with a hitting percentage of 153.01 before the IPL was suspended. The batsman from New Zealand Glenn Phillips with a record in T20 of 134 T20 matches and 3744 runs will replace Buttler in the second part of the IPL season. Phillips will also join the 15-man New Zealand line-up for the T20 World Cup soon. He hit a fifty against Pakistan and a century against the West Indies. Both facts suggest Phillips is ready to show a spectacular performance in IPL 2021.
