The most talked about fast bowler in Indian cricket is Umran Malik. The guy rose to fame during this year’s IPL when he easily clocked over 150 km/h. By the time the fast bowler appeared in the team, he was already a fan favorite and even the selectors took notice of him. Just days after the IPL, Umran Malik was called up to the national team for the T20Is against South Africa.
It was only during the series against Ireland, captained by Hardik Pandya, that the pacer was able to make his debut. However, in the third match of his career, Umran Malik was smashed all over the park by English batters. In 4 overs he managed to score a total of 56 runs and pick up his only wicket.
Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal said that the Indian team should play without Umranom Malik in T20Is. In his opinion, the fast bowler should be used in Test cricket.
“Don’t make him play T20 cricket. Get him to play Test matches. Harden him like that. As a pacer, I say that he is a very good bowler but you have to make him a bowler. Give him a chance in Test cricket where he can bowl 10-15 overs and learn the craft of getting wickets,” said Madan Lal on Sports Tak.
India lost the third T20I to England but won the series 2-1.
