The competition was organised ahead of the 2019 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers which was held in the United Arab Emirates. All the games of the Oman Pentangular T20I series were played at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat.

Structure of Oman Pentangular T20I Series
The structure of the Oman Pentangular T20I series is very simple. All five nations namely Hong Kong, Ireland, Nepal, the Netherlands and hosts Oman played against each other only once in a round-robin format. Each and every team played four games each. The team that remains at the top of the points table is declared the winner of the Oman Pentangular T20I Series.
History of Oman Pentangular T20I Series
The first and only edition of the Oman Pentangular T20I series was held in October 2019. A total of 10 matches were played and the tournament lasted for only six days. The first match was held between Hong Kong and hosts Oman on October 5, 2019, and the tournament ended on October 10, 2019. Originally, four teams were supposed to participate but the number of teams was increased to five eventually. All ten games were hosted at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat. Hosts Oman won the tournament, winning all four games. They managed to secure the top spot in the table standings with 8 points and a net run rate of +2.268.

Oman
The Oman national cricket team is governed by Oman cricket and it became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council(ICC) in the year 2000. Oman gained associate status back in 2014. Oman started playing T20I matches on 24 April 2019 and the side achieved its One-Day International status in 2023. At the time of writing this, Oman sits 20th in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Oman was the winner of the 2019-20 season of the Oman Pentangular T20I Series. They managed to win all four games and finished at the top of the table. Ireland
The Ireland national cricket team is governed by Cricket Ireland, the sport’s governing body in Ireland. Ireland participates in all three formats of the game: Test, ODI and T20I. They are the 11th member of the International Cricket Council(ICC). At the time of writing this, Ireland sits 12th in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Paul Stirling, Ireland’s all-time leading run-scorer in T20Is scored 3397 runs in only 128 innings at an average of 29.03. Mark Adair is their leading wicket-taker in T20Is. He has managed to pick 97 wickets in only 69 T20Is.
Nepal
Nepal’s national cricket team is governed by the Cricket Association of Nepal(CAN). They have been an associate member of the International Cricket Council(ICC) since 1996. They were offered T20I status back in June 2014 by the ICC. Nepal, nicknamed “The Rhinos” ranks 17th in the list of the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. They are captained by Rohit Paudel at the time of writing this. Sandeep Lamichhane, their all-time leading wicket-taker picked up 85 wickets to date. Dipendra Singh Airee is their all-time leading run-scorer. He has scored 1103 runs at an average of 35.58 in only 39 innings.
Netherlands
The Netherlands national cricket team also named “The Flying Dutchmen” is managed by the Royal Dutch Cricket Association. The Netherlands regained their T20I status in June 2014. They played their first T20I game back in 2008. At the time of writing, the side ranks 15th in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Max O’Dowd is their all-time top-scorer. He has managed to score 1589 runs in 57 innings at an average of 29.98. Paul van Meekeren is their all-time leading wicket-taker. He has 64 wickets to his name in 58 matches.
Hong Kong
The Hong Kong men’s national cricket team has been an associate member of the International Cricket Council(ICC) since 1969. In November 2013, the side gained its T20I status after qualifying for the 2014 ICC World Twenty20. At the time of writing, the side ranks 18th in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Aizaz Khan, their all-time leading wicket-taker picked up 66 wickets to date in 53 matches. Nizakat Khan, their all-time leading run-scorer accumulated 1081 runs to date in 57 matches at an average of 19.65.
