Structure of Oman Quadrangular T20I Series
The structure of the Oman Quadrangular T20I series is very simple. All four nations namely the United Arab Emirates, Ireland, the Netherlands and hosts Oman played against each other only once in a round-robin format. Each and every team played three games each. The team that remains at the top of the points table is declared the winner of the Oman Quadrangular T20I Series.
History of Oman Quadrangular T20I Series
The inaugural season of the Oman Quadrangular T20I Series took place between 9th to 22nd February 2019. Ireland, Scotland, the Netherlands and hosts Oman participated in the competition and all the matches were played at the Al Emarat Cricket Stadium in Muscat. Scotland secured the top spot in the table, winning two out of three matches. Hence, they were declared as champions. The 2021-22 Oman Quadrangular T20I Series took place between 11-14 February 2022 in Oman. Hosts Oman participated in the competition along with the United Arab Emirates, Ireland and the Netherlands. This time, the United Arab Emirates managed to get to the top of the table, winning two out of three games and hence were declared champions. Ireland came second with the same number of wins.

Oman
The Oman national cricket team is governed by Oman Cricket and it became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council(ICC) in the year 2000. Oman gained associate status back in 2014. Oman started playing T20I matches on 24 April 2019 and the side achieved its One-Day International status in 2023. At the time of writing this, Oman sits 20th in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Oman was the winner of the 2019-20 season of the Oman Pentangular T20I Series. They managed to win all four games and finished at the top of the table. Jatinder Singh is Oman’s all-time leading run-getter, scoring 1056 at 26.40 in 46 matches. Bilal Khan, their all-time leading wicket-taker picked up 71 wickets in 53 matches. Oman finished 3rd in the 2021/22 Oman Quadrangular Series with a win and two defeats in three games.
Ireland
The Ireland national cricket team is governed by Cricket Ireland, the sport’s governing body in Ireland. Ireland participates in all three formats of the game: Test, ODI and T20I. They are the 11th member of the International Cricket Council(ICC). At the time of writing this, Ireland sits 12th in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Paul Stirling, Ireland’s all-time leading run-scorer in T20Is scored 3397 runs in only 128 innings at an average of 29.03. Mark Adair is their leading wicket-taker in T20Is. He has managed to pick 97 wickets in only 69 T20Is. Ireland were the runners-up of the 2021/22 Oman Quadrangular Series. A slightly inferior net run rate prevented Ireland from winning the tournament.
Nepal
Nepal’s national cricket team is governed by the Cricket Association of Nepal(CAN). They have been an associate member of the International Cricket Council(ICC) since 1996. They were offered T20I status back in June 2014 by the ICC. Nepal, nicknamed “The Rhinos” ranks 17th in the list of the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. They are captained by Rohit Paudel at the time of writing this. Sandeep Lamichhane, their all-time leading wicket-taker picked up 85 wickets to date. Dipendra Singh Airee is their all-time leading run-scorer. He has scored 1103 runs at an average of 35.58 in only 39 innings. Nepal participated in the 2021/22 season but unfortunately came last with only a single win in three games.
United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates national cricket team is governed by the Emirates Cricket Board(ECB). UAE became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council(ICC) in 1989 and an associate member the following year. At the time of writing this, UAE sits 16th in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. The side made it to the 2014 ICC World T20 and 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The team also qualified for the 2019 ICC Rohan Mustafa, their all-time leading run-scorer has hammered 1006 runs to date in 58 T20 WC Qualifiers as the host nation. Is at 20.95. Coincidentally, he is also their top wicket-taker in T20Is. He has picked up 61 wickets in 58 matches at an average of 21.03.
