About Road Safety World Series
The league was co-founded by Ravi Gaikwad, the chief road traffic officer of Thane, in collaboration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Its primary objective is to promote road safety awareness. The tournament features participation from cricketing nations like India, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. Heading the league as the commissioner is former Indian captain, Sunil Gavaskar, while the renowned Sachin Tendulkar serves as the brand ambassador. The 2022 edition marked the debut of New Zealand in the competition.

Structure of the Road Safety World Series
In the Road Safety World Series, the competition adheres to the classic round-robin format, where each team competes against all the other teams. As the league progresses, the top four teams out of the eight contenders proceed to the semi-finals. From there, two of those qualified teams make it to the final showdown, battling it out to claim the coveted title.

Its inaugural edition took place in 2020, featuring teams of cricket legends from India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh, and England. The tournament has been remarkably successful in using cricket as a medium to address road safety issues in India, garnering positive responses from the public. Renowned cricket icons such as Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Muttiah Muralitharan, and others have wholeheartedly participated in the event, actively promoting the message of road safety.

India Legends
The team holds the title of defending champions, having clinched victory in the inaugural 2020 edition. With a star-studded lineup comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Munaf Patel, Pragyan Ojha, and other notable players, they are a formidable force. Tendulkar, in particular, stands out as the top run-scorer of the tournament, amassing an impressive 249 runs in just 5 matches.
Sri Lanka Legends
In both editions of the tournament, they secured a spot in the semifinals. The team boasts a formidable lineup featuring cricket legends like Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, and Rangana Herath. Among their outstanding players, Muralitharan stands as the top wicket-taker of the tournament, having taken an impressive 13 wickets in just 5 matches.
Australia Legends
After missing the first edition, the team made their debut in the second season. It comprises notable players like Brett Lee, Brad Hodge, Shane Watson, and Andrew Symonds. Additionally, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting will be participating in the tournament for the very first time.

New Zealand Legends
Making their tournament debut, the team was led by Jacob Oram and featured former players like Jamie How and Jason Spice. Although absent in the first edition of the tournament, they participated for the first time in the subsequent season. However, in their debut appearance, they were unable to progress beyond the group stage.
Bangladesh Legends
The team comprises former Bangladeshi players, including Mohammad Rafique, Khaled Mashud, Nafees Iqbal, and Aftab Ahmed. Despite their efforts, they were unable to advance past the group stage in both of their attempts in the tournament.
