About the 6ixty Women
Going beyond the norm, the tournament showcases both men’s and women’s cricket simultaneously, with a strong emphasis on elevating women’s cricket by building on the momentum generated by the women’s T10 exhibition matches during the CPL playoffs in 2019. Anticipating a grand and frequent celebration of cricket, the organisers plan to host the 6ixty four times a year, with one of the quarterly events taking place outside the West Indies, promising a remarkable global spectacle.

Structure of the 6ixty Women
The tournament adopts a traditional league stage and knockout stage format, wherein each team participates in three matches during the league stage, totalling nine matches for all teams combined. The top four teams from the league stage proceed to the playoffs, where two semi-finals are held, culminating in an intense final between the semi-final winners.
While the tournament follows the T10 format that has been familiar for some time, it ventures into the realm of the unconventional. Several modifications have been introduced to enhance the excitement of the game. Organisers have coined it as “60-ball cricket,” where each team is granted 10 overs (equivalent to 60 legal deliveries) to bat, and each bowler is allowed a maximum of two overs. The matches are designed to last approximately 90 minutes, adding to the fast-paced nature of the format.
Some of the innovative rules include a change in the number of wickets required for teams to be all out, reducing it to six wickets instead of the standard 10 in other formats. Moreover, the first five overs of the match are bowled from one end of the pitch, with the following five overs bowled from the opposite side, diverging from the alternating sides seen in other formats.
To ensure the pace of the game, fielding teams must bowl their 10 overs within 45 minutes; otherwise, they face a penalty of losing one fielder during the final over. Additionally, the batting team has the chance to “unlock” a third powerplay over by hitting two sixes in the first two powerplay overs, adding strategic depth to the game.
One of the most intriguing features is the “Mystery Free Hit,” where fans are involved in decision-making. They get to determine when the delivery is played by the batsman, who, during this particular delivery, is virtually immune to getting dismissed in any manner, sparking anticipation and excitement among spectators.
History of the 6ixty Women
The 6ixty, the inaugural women’s T10 cricket tournament, was successfully organised by Cricket West Indies and the Caribbean Premier League in August 2022, captivating cricket fans in the backdrop of St. Kitts and Nevis, just ahead of the women’s CPL tournament. The same teams that partake in the women’s CPL also play the 6ixty. In an exhilarating finale, the Barbados Royals team emerged as champions, triumphing over the Trinbago Knight Riders. Notably, Suné Luus of the Trinbago Knight Riders stood out as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, claiming an impressive 4 wickets in 8 overs. Adding to the tournament’s allure, the legendary Chris Gayle took on the role of ambassador, adding his star power to the event.

The Barbados Royals Women reigned as defending champions in the 2022 season, under the captaincy of Hayley Matthews. The team’s remarkable performance was highlighted by Chloe Tryon’s exceptional batting display, as she notched an impressive 114 runs in five matches, which was the highest in the tournament, at a strike rate of 162.85. Shakera Selman showcased her prowess in bowling, emerging as the top wicket-taker for the team with four wickets in five matches and an economy rate of 5.61. The Barbados Royals Women’s journey to the finals brought them face to face with the formidable Trinbago Knight Riders Women, and in an intense showdown, they emerged triumphant, clinching a thrilling 15-run victory to retain their championship title.
Trinbago Knight Riders Women
Finishing as the tournament’s runners-up were the Trinbago Knight Riders Women, led by their captain, Deandra Dottin. Despite putting up a valiant effort, they narrowly missed out on the title by failing to chase down the target set by the Barbados Royals Women in the final match. Deandra Dottin led from the front, emerging as the team’s top run-scorer with an impressive tally of 75 runs in three matches. On the bowling front, Sheneta Shanata Grimmond proved to be their standout performer, claiming four wickets in five matches.
Guyana Amazon Warriors Women
Despite having the same number of points as the other two leading teams before the finals, the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women were relegated to last place in the standings due to their inferior net run rate. The team was led by Stefanie Taylor, who also emerged as their top run-scorer, amassing an impressive total of 93 runs in four matches. In the bowling department, Cherry-Ann Sarah Fraser showcased her talent as the leading wicket-taker for the team, securing four wickets in four matches.
